svg: Add mock SVGImageElement interface (#36975)
Add mock SVGImageElement interface to fix TIMEOUT WPT tests
which are related to ImageBitmap (html/canvas/*).
https://svgwg.org/svg2-draft/embedded.html#InterfaceSVGImageElement

Rationality of this change to fire event "error" on any attempt to fetch
image resource on href attribute change to not block WPT tests
execution.

Some WPT tests use the legacy namespace attribute "xlink:href", so
support for it was added to source code.
https://svgwg.org/svg2-draft/linking.html#XLinkHrefAttribute
 - setAttributeNS("http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink", 'xlink:href', src);

layout: Use box tree Fragments for offset parent queries (#36681)
This change switches `offsetParent`, `offsetLeft`, etc queries to use
the BoxTree fragments instead of walking the entire fragment tree. In
addition, fragments are stored for columns and colgroups. In general,
this greatly simplifies the flow of the query and prevents having to do
expensive tree walks.

Testing: This change is covered by newly passing WPT tests and three new
failures:

 - /css/filter-effects/backdrop-filter-edge-clipping-2.html
 - /css/filter-effects/backdrop-filter-edge-mirror.html
 - /css/filter-effects/backdrop-filter-edge-pixels-2.html

These failures are actually progressions, because now the references
start
to render properly whereas before they did not.

Fixes: This is part of #36525 and #36665.

layout: Implement node geometry queries against BoxTree's Fragment (#36663)
This is a followup to #36629, continuing to implement script-based
layout queries using the `Fragment`s attached to the `BoxTree`. In this
change, geometry queris (apart from parent offset) are calculated using
`Fragment`s hanging of the `BoxTree`.

In order to make this work, all `Fragment`s for inlines split by blocks,
need to be accessible in the `BoxTree`. This required some changes to
the way that box tree items were stored in DOM `BoxSlot`s. Now every
inline level item can have more than a single `BoxTree` item. These are
carefully collected by the `InlineFormattingContextBuilder` -- currently
a bit fragile, but with more documentation.

Testing: There are tests for these changes.

script: Measure stored layout data memory usage. (#36664)
We previously ignored the opaque layout data field inside each node when
measuring a DOM node's memory usage. While some of the reachable memory
was accounted for by measuring the layout's box tree, measuring it via
the node ensures that we don't miss anything. Since there are often Arc
values involved, this means that the layout-thread box tree measurements
now look quite small, while reported JS heap usage has increased.

Testing: Manually compared about:memory for servo.org.

layout: Add a new FragmentTree pass to calculate containing block rectangles (#36629)
When doing any kind of query, up until now, containing block rectangles
were calculated by walking the `FragmentTree` until the node being
queried was found. In order to make possible answering queries without
walking the `FragmentTree`, `Fragment`s need to cache their cumulative
containing block rectangles.

This change adds a new `FragmentTree` pass (during construction) that
takes care of calculating and caching these values. The new cached value
is used during resolved style queries and also scrolling area queries
(with the idea that all queries will eventually use them).

In addition, extra `FragmentTree` walks used for cancelling animations
for elements no longer in the `FragmentTree` are integrated into this
new traversal.

Testing: Covered by existing WPT tests.

feat: Implement display for text selection and caret (#35830)
This PR introduces an initial, straightforward implementation for
displaying text selection and the caret.

This is achieved by passing the selection range and insertion point
index down to `TextFragment`, along with the starting offset of each
`TextFragment` to determine the proper range for displaying the caret
and text selection. Additionally, the `selected_style` was passed into
`TextFragment` to specify the background color.

During the final build phase, although whitespace is typically ignored
when constructing glyphs, we still need to retrieve it to render both
the caret and text selection at the correct location. This ensures that
whitespace is not overlooked when the `TextFragment` contains an
insertion point or selection range.

There are several improvements yet to be made, including:

- The caret is static and does not flash.
- The caret is not rendered when the input field is empty. (I suppose
there should be an easy fix somewhere but I haven't found it yet)

compositing: Combine webrender_traits and compositing_traits (#36372)
These two traits both exposed different parts of the compositing API,
but now that the compositor doesn't depend directly on `script` any
longer and the `script_traits` crate has been split into the
`constellation_traits` crate, this can be finally be cleaned up without
causing circular dependencies. In addition, some unit tests for the
`IOPCompositor`'s scroll node tree are also moved into
`compositing_traits` as well.

Testing: This just combines two crates, so no new tests are necessary.

Move ScriptToConstellationMsg to constellation_traits (#36364)
This is the last big change necessary to create the
`constellation_traits` crate. This moves the data structure for messages
that originate from the `ScriptThread` and are sent to the
`Contellation` to `constellation_traits`, effectively splitting
`script_traits` in half. Before, `script_traits` was responsible for
exposing the API of both the `ScriptThread` and the `Constellation` to
the rest of Servo.

- Data structures that are used by `ScriptToConstellationMsg` are moved
to `constellation_traits`. The dependency graph looks a bit like this:
`script_layout_interface` depends on `script_traits` depends on
  `constellation_traits` depends on `embedder_traits`.
- Data structures that are used in the embedding layer
  (`UntrustedNodeAddress`, `CompositorHitTestResult`, `TouchEventResult`
and `AnimationState`) are moved to embedder_traits, to avoid a
  dependency cycle between `webrender_traits` and
  `constellation_traits`.
- Types dealing with MessagePorts and serialization are moved to
  `constellation_traits::message_port`.

Testing: This is covered by existing tests as it just moves types
around.

constellation: Stop assuming that the viewport is shared by all WebViews (#36312)
The `Constellation` previously held a `window_size` member, but this
assumes that all `WebView`s have the same size. This change removes that
assumption as well as making sure that all `WebView`s pass their size
and HiDIP scaling to the `Constellation` when they are created.

In addition

- `WindowSizeData` is renamed to `ViewportDetails`, as it was
holding more than just the size and it didn't necessarily correspond to
a "window." It's used for tracking viewport data, whether for an
`<iframe>` or the main `WebView` viewport.
- `ViewportDetails` is stored more consistently so that conceptually an
`<iframe>` can also have its own HiDPI scaling. This isn't something
we necessarily want, but it makes everything conceptually simpler.

The goal with this change is to work toward allowing per-`WebView` HiDPI
scaling and sizing. There are still some corresponding changes in the
compositor to make that happen, but they will in a subsequent change.

Testing: This is covered by existing tests. There should be no behavior
changes.
Fixes: This is part of #36232.

libservo: Remove a couple EmbedderMethods (#36276)
- Remove `EmbedderMethods::get_user_agent_string`. This is now part of
the `Preferences` data structure, which should allow it to be
  per-`WebView` in the future.
- Remove `EmbedderMethods::get_version_string`. This was used to include
some data along with WebRender captures about the Servo version. This
isn't really necessary and it was done to replace code in the past
that output the WebRender version, so also isn't what the original
code did. I think we can just remove this entirely.

The idea with these changes is that `EmbedderMethods` can be removed
in a followup and the rest of the methods can be added to
`ServoDelegate`. These two methods are ones that cannot be added to a
delegate as they are used during `Servo` initialization.

Testing: There is currently no testing for libservo. These changes are
meant
as preparation for adding a suite of `WebView` unit tests.

layout: Simplify and generalize the usage of pseudo-elements (#36202)
- Remove the last remaining Servo-specific PseudoElement enum from
layout. This was made to select `::before` and `::after` (both eager
pseudo-elements), but now `traverse_pseudo_element` is called
`traverse_eager_pseudo_element` and should work on any eager pseudo
  element.
- Expose a single way of getting psuedo-element variants of
ThreadSafeLayoutElement in the Layout DOM, which returns `None` when
the pseudo-element doesn't apply (not defined for eager
pseudo-elements or when trying to get `<details>` related
pseudo-elements on elements that they don't apply to).
- Ensure that NodeAndStyleInfo always refers to a node. This is done by
making sure that anonymous boxes are all associated with their
  originating node.

These changes are prepatory work for implementation of the `::marker`
pseudo-element as well as ensuring that all anonymous boxes can be
cached into the box tree eventually.

script: Eliminate PseudoElementType (#36146)
Servo has a `PseudoElementType` which more or less duplicate's Stylo's
`PseudoElement` with the addition of a non-pseudo element variant. This
type needs to be converted into `PseudoElement` anyway when asking for
the style of an element from Stylo, so eliminate Servo's version and
simply use `Option<PseudoElement>` with the `None` variant meaning the
non-pseudo.

This is preparation for adding support for the `::marker` pseudo
element.

Create a constellation_traits crate (#36088)
This change creates a `constellation_traits` crate. Previously messages
to the `Constellation` were in the `compositing_traits` crate, which
came about organically. This change moves these to a new crate which
also contains data types that are used in both compositing/libservo and
script (ie types that cross the process boundary). The idea is similar
to `embedding_traits`, but this is meant for types not exposed to the
API.

This change allows deduplicating `UntrustedNodeAddress`, which
previously had two versions to avoid circular dependencies.

metrics: Simplify ProgressiveWebMetrics (#35985)
Simply how `ProgressiveWebMetrics` works:

1. Keep only a single struct instead of one in layout and one script
that both implement the `ProgressiveWebMetrics` trait. Since layout
and script are the same thread these can now just be a single
   `ProgressiveWebMetrics` struct stored in script.
2. Have the compositor be responsible for informing the Constellation
(which informs the ScripThread) about paint metrics. This makes
communication flow one way and removes one dependency between the
   compositor and script (of two).
3. All units tests are moved into the `metrics` crate itself since there
is only one struct there now.

Include WebViewId into EmbedderMsg variants where possible (#35211)
`EmbedderMsg` was previously paired with an implicit
`Option<WebViewId>`, even though almost all variants were either always
`Some` or always `None`, depending on whether there was a `WebView
involved.

This patch adds the `WebViewId` to as many `EmbedderMsg` variants as
possible, so we can call their associated `WebView` delegate methods
without needing to check and unwrap the `Option`. In many cases, this
required more changes to plumb through the `WebViewId`.

Notably, all `Request`s now explicitly need a `WebView` or not, in order
to ensure that it is passed when appropriate.

script: No longer do explicit reflows for display (#34599)
These all happen now in *update the rendering*, typically after the
message that triggered this code is processed, though in two cases
reflow needs to be triggered explicitly. This makes `ReflowReason`
redundant though perhaps `ReflowCondition` can be expanded later to give
more insight into why the page is dirty.

- Handling of the "reflow timer" concept has been explained a bit more via
  data structures and rustdoc comments.
- Theme changes are cleaned up a little to simplify what happens during
reflow and to avoid unecessary reflows when the theme doesn't change.

Notably, layout queries and scrolling still trigger normal reflows and
don't update the rendering. This needs more investigation as it's
unclear to me currently whether or not they should update the rendering
and simply delay event dispatch or only reflow.

In general, this is a simplfication of the code.

compositor: Create a single cross-process compositor API (#33619) (#33660)
Instead of exposing many different kinds of messages to the compositor
that are routed through the constellation, expose a single message type
which can be sent across IPC channels. In addition, this IPC channel and
the route to the crossbeam channel with the compositor is created along
with the `CompositorProxy`, simplifying what needs to be passed around
during pipeline initialization.

Previously, some image updates (from video) were sent over IPC with a
special serialization routine and some were sent via crossbeam channels
(canvas). Now all updates go over the IPC channel `IpcSharedMemory` is
used to avoid serialization penalties. This should improve performance
and reduce copies for video, but add a memory copy overhead for canvas.
This will improve in the future when canvas renders directly into a
texture.

All-in-all this is a simplification which opens the path toward having a
standard compositor API and reduces the number of duplicate messages and
proxying that had to happen in libservo.

fonts: Use IpcSharedMemory to send font data (#33530)
This changes modifes the way that font data is sent over IPC channels.
Instead of serializing the data or sending it via IPC byte senders, font
data is copied into shared memory and a copy of the handle is sent over
the channel.

There is also the idea of sending the file handle of the on disk data of
system fonts. This could be implemented as a further followup once there
is an abstraction in `ipc-channel` over file handles.

To accomplish this, a `FontData` abstraction is added, which also allows
caching an in-memory shared `Arc<Vec<u8>>` version of the data (neeeded
by some APIs). This could also be a place for caching font tables in the
future.

Finally, the `FontCacheThread` is renamed to the `SystemFontService`
while the proxy for this is now named `SystemFontServiceProxy`.

script: Create a CrossProcessInstant to enable serializable monotonic time (#33282)
Up until now, Servo was using a very old version of time to get a
cross-process monotonic timestamp (using `time::precise_time_ns()`).
This change replaces the usage of old time with a new serializable
monotonic time called `CrossProcessInstant` and uses it where `u64`
timestamps were stored before. The standard library doesn't provide this
functionality because it isn't something you can do reliably on all
platforms. The idea is that we do our best and then fall back
gracefully.

This is a big change, because Servo was using `u64` timestamps all over
the place some as raw values taken from `time::precise_time_ns()` and
some as relative offsets from the "navigation start," which is a concept
similar to DOM's `timeOrigin` (but not exactly the same). It's very
difficult to fix this situation without fixing it everywhere as the
`Instant` concept is supposed to be opaque. The good thing is that this
change clears up all ambiguity when passing times as a `time::Duration`
is unit agnostic and a `CrossProcessInstant` represents an absolute
moment in time.

The `time` version of `Duration` is used because it can both be negative
and is also serializable.

Good things:
 - No need too pass around `time` and `time_precise` any longer.
`CrossProcessInstant` is also precise and monotonic.
 - The distinction between a time that is unset or at `0` (at some kind
of timer epoch) is now gone.

There still a lot of work to do to clean up timing, but this is the
first step. In general, I've tried to preserve existing behavior, even
when not spec compliant, as much as possible. I plan to submit followup
PRs fixing some of the issues I've noticed.
